About Ion Linac Systems

  • Incorporated in January, 2014, Ion Linac Systems is building on the legacy, technology and industry relationships of Linac Systems, LLC. Below is a timeline of our company history.

    • 1991: Linac Systems founded in Waxahachie, Texas.
    • 1995: Rf Focused Drift tube (RFD) linac development SBIR grant awarded.
    • 1996: RFD patent granted.
    • 1998: RFD beam achieved.
    • 2002: Linac Systems moves to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
    • 2004: Rf Focused Interdigital (RFI) linac patent granted.
    • 2006: RFI beam achieves dramatic improvement in RF power efficiencies.
    • 2006: RFI coupling scheme patent awarded.
    • 2007: First generation RFI ion linac shipped.
    • 2009: Operated first continuous wave (CW) ion-source.
    • 2010: Three RFI machines in the field operating successfully
    • 2011: 2.5 MeV, CW linac system nearing completion.
    • 2014: Ion Linac Systems is incorporated. ILS acquires and begins to leverage the assets, intellectual property and industry relationships of the former Linac Systems, LLC.

    Ion Linac Systems' location in Albuquerque, New Mexico gives it access to personnel with extensive experience from Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs as well as the local support industries that have grown around the labs, such as precision machining and copper plating. These unique resources are particularly keen in this location.
